Presidential Search Narrowed to Three

Volunteer State Community College has been without a president since October, 2011, when Dr. Warren Nichols was named vice chancellor for community colleges by the Tennessee Board of Regents.

On February 1, the presidential search advisory committee narrowed the field to three candidates.

Of the three, two have long-time ties to Vol State.

Dr. Bonnie Copenhaver, provost at Motlow State Community College in Smyrna, Tenn., was dean of the humanities department at Vol State.

Rep. Michael McDonald was a professor of communication at the school, prior to his political career.

Dr. Jerry Faulkner is vice president of academic affairs at Cleveland State Community College in Cleveland, Tenn.

A public forum will be held during the last week of February, said Loretta Calvert, coordinator of paralegal studies at Vol State.  The three candidates will be available to answer questions from faculty, staff, students and the public.
